What questions can I ask during the consult?

Being mindful of the time constraints, you can in general ask any question you would ask a lawyer. Through this service users can ask general legal questions, request a second opinion, get advice about billing concerns, tips regarding self-representation, questions about the viability of prospective legal matters and more.

What should I expect after submitting a consultation request?

You will receive an email confirming your consultation request as well as a receipt of your payment. Within two to five business days (depending on the service selected), a Planet-Legal expert will send you an email with the contact information of the selected lawyer.

Once you have received this email, you can contact the lawyer directly to arrange the consultation on mutually agreeable terms within one year.

What if I need additional time?

If you require an additional hour or less of time, you can sign up for an additional hour through our website. At your option, you may enter into a retainer directly with the lawyer although we have no control over the hourly rate.

How should I prepare for my legal consult?

You should research your legal issue to allow you to formulate more specific questions. We recommend you write down a list of questions and key points regarding your matter to ensure you get the opportunity to bring them up. You may wish to precisely write down a concise version of the facts. We recommend you assemble and review all relevant documents. If you intend to ask about a specific document, you should send a copy in a standard format (such as PDF) to the lawyer beforehand and have a printout handy to review during the discussion.

How can I edit and manage my post after creating it?

You can view and edit your post by logging in and going to your account profile dashboard. The easiest way to do this is by clicking on the top right username link beside the logout button, then selecting the appropriate section to display a list of your posts.
